THE BACKGROUND STORY

The Give US Your Poor mission is to create a revolution in public awareness, dispel myths and inspire action towards ending epidemic homelessness in the United States. It works to effect change at the policy level, engage volunteerism and contributions at the individual and corporate levels through media, and education; and to channel support to partner homeless organizations. Based in Wayland, MA our focus is primarily on serving homeless people in Massachusetts, although we have and do work nationally.  Our Voices for Veterans campaign focuses on permanently housing veterans through fund-raising and awareness-building concerts.

Give US Your Poor is founded on the idea of bringing together the latest research, multi-media, celebrities, non-celebrities, homeless individuals, and partner organizations to focus systemically and with cross-sector collaboration to help end homelessness.

With this mindset Voices for Veterans was born. In order to make this a meaningful and special project we have decided to go local. To make it an initiative that comes to your city with the goal of ending veteran homelessness on your streets.

Regional concerts have taken place in multiple states thanks to key community partners, musicians, funders and veterans.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse off your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
